1635 Family Migration to America[]

Sailingship2012

He was a passenger on the English ship Planter, which sailed from London in July, 1635, bound for New England. The ship arrived safe at Massachusetts Bay. Passenger list information was transcribed in the 19th century by Michael Tepper from records found in London, the Public Rolls Office, formerly at Carleton Ride.

James Pitney (1583-1663) was probably brother of MARGARET PITNEY {1635, Unknown}, who enrolled for passage to New England on the same ship with his wife, Sarah Smythe Pitney, and the two eldest children. In the group of passengers enrolled for passage on the Planter on 11 April 1635, the only person not obviously a member of the Pitney family was RACHEL DEANE {1635, Marshfield}. The concurrent residence at Marshfield of Rachel (______) (Deane) Biddle and the family of James Pitney may not be merely a coincidence. Source: Anderson's Great Migration Study Project.

On the "Planter" on 11 April 1635, "Sara Pittnei," aged 22, and "2 children, Sara Pitnei," aged 7, and "Samuell Pitney," aged 1½," were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the Planter.
