Baptism[]

Sarah Underdown was born in 1722 in Devon, and was baptised on the 12th August 1722 in Northleigh, the daughter of Thomas and Grace Underdown (nee Pennington).

She was their 6th child and 3rd daughter, her elder siblings being James, Abraham, Mary, Thomas and Grace.

Death[]

Sarah died at the age of 26 of causes currently unknown in the year 1748. A scarlatina (otherwise known as Scarlett Fever) epidemic was affecting the country at the time, and it is possible that Sarah may have been afflicted. A typhus epidemic is also recorded for this year.

She was buried on the 5th June 1748 in the Northleigh churchyard.
