Susannah Smith Adams was born 30 May 1819 in Grayson, Carter County, Kentucky to Anthony Smith (1798-1819) and Sarah Mahurin (1802-1900) and died 23 January 1892 Harrisburg, Washington County, Utah of unspecified causes. She married Orson Bennett Adams (1815-1901) 20 March 1836 in Kentucky.
Biography
History - Orson was a member of the Mormon Battalion, Company C, Sergeant of Sick Detachment under Captain James Brown. He and his wife Susannah lost two children at birth then adopted a son, John S. Page Adams. John did not go on the march with them and grandparents cared for him. Susan had been raised in the home of a doctor and was able to bring much comfort to the Sick Detachment of the Mormon Battalion.
