I am a direct descendent of Alponse. He is my great, great, grandfather... he only had one son before he died, and his son was named James Arthur Girard. Alphonse's wife, Annie, married Patrick Joseph Healy the same year Alphonse died. Patrick Healy adopted James Arthur Girard (the son of Annie and Alphonse) (Alphonse was only 2 at the time) but I don't know what year. Annie and Patrick Healy had another son together some years later... Cecil (Healy) the olympic swimmer (and also many more children).

Thanks, I don't know how to get around this website that great, and I don't know how to email you, can't find how to do that... I've only just started researching this line of the family tree, as when Alphonse's son was adopted by Patrick Healy, he took the abbreviated name of Girard-Healy, and somewhere down the line the Girard was dropped. I'm just waiting on a death certificate to see what Alphonse died from, as he was only 31 when he died. If I find out anymore info about anything will let you know, it's so exciting that I've found out a fair amount so far, and I've somewhat worked out most of Alphonse's brothers (including Leopold). Photos would be good wouldn't they? I think Alphonse was a solicitor in Sydney??????? (that's only what I've heard)... thanks, looks like we are some generation level of cousins or something like that!!!!
