The town of Castlewood is covered in the Wikepedia. It does not consider the historical Castle's Woods, from which it grew. Also the Historical Castle's Woods was actually located a few miles to the west, though the entire area was known by the name. The significance of Castle's Woods as the western most settlement c. 1769 makes it worth detailed treatment. Hagy's Unsettlemed Settlements is a good source of information on this.

The use of "Indian Killer" as an AKA for John Walker is derogatory and based solely on opinon. If Mr Walker killed some Indians, it was because Indians were known to kill and kidnap his family members. You can't go placing a name like that on someone out of a lack of knowledge. My Goodness. So you don't think there was a knowledge based reason for using this byname?. In point of fact this is the way he was known after he left Southwest Virginia. The term is in common use among those researching this family, and has been in use for quite sometime. When you've familiarized yourself enough with this individuals history to know where the name comes from and its circumstances, and still wish to discuss the matter, please return. But only after you have something to say other than personal opinion. Bill Willis 11:56, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
