Historical names[]
The French occupation lasted only a few years, and the departements of the Batavian Republic did not have any lasting effect. The provinces of the Kingdom (since 1815) are by and large the same as the provinces of the Republic (1568-1795). As the Republic started with burning all the archives, the current provinces are just fine for the purposes of Wikia Genealogy. Rtol 08:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- That last sentence is reassuring! The history of those brief intermissions may be of value to anyone whose relatives produced or featured in records of those periods.
