- Nowadays it is part of Flevoland, but when it was still an island, it was governed by both Amsterdam (Holland) and Deventer (Overijssel). In the 1950's when the Noordoostpolder was reclaimed from the sea, it was added to Overijssel. When other areas where also reclaimed, they were united in the province of Flevoland.
