Why such apparently disjointed detail?[]
I think I wrote about this somewhere, but I can't find it. This is an obvious place to re-create it.
Here's a (hypothetical) scenario that would lead someone to want to list all Familypedia people born in Pennsylvania whose father was stated to be born between 1849 and 1875:
Letter found among deceased grandfather's papers, many of which seemed to have been bundled together after the death of some member of an earlier generation:
- My dear niece,
- You wanted some more information about your ancestors. I can't write for long because of my arthritis, but here is installment number one!
- Fred's grandparents were married in 1849 in Canada. The family later settled in Pa., where their youngest child and only girl, Mary (who died at age 9, poor dear), and all of their grandchildren were born. Your Aunt Mary was the last one. She was born at Christmas 1875.
- Must stop now, dear. More tomorrow if my cough isn't worse.
You want to list everyone (not only Fred and Mary) who could have been one of those grandchildren. Names and birth locations may be enough for you to work out who might qualify. Fathers' birthplaces may be Canada, but that's not certain, because the writer may have omitted a period when the family was somewhere else.
