Purpose: Military event, typically a tour of duty or an enlistment period but could be other events:
- participation in a specific event such as training, a engagement, a rescue or disaster relief
- a military campaign examples: Sherman's March to the Sea, Napoleon's_invasion_of_Russia
- stationing at a particular location (see also residence, but military event would record specifics about the duties)
- promotion in rank or award.
