Research Notes
The first certain representative of the family is Thierry , cited as Count of Autun in 742 and in 750. He was married to Alda , most likely daughter of Charles Martel , Duke of the Franks. The presence in his descendants of the first names of Thierry, Bernard, Heribert and Rolande led Eduard Hlawitschka in 1965 to link the first Guilhemides to the family of Bertrada of Prüm (670-). Indeed, when the latter founded the abbey of Prüm , she signed the deed of foundation in the presence of her son Caribert of Laon (bef705-bef762) (= Heribert) and her close relatives Rolande, Bernhar and Thierry.
