"Thomas Allen Jr....was born Sept. 10, 1755 in New London, Conn. He was the only son who lived of Thomas and Elizabeth (Christophers-Shackmaple) Allen Sr....Thomas Allen Jr. was married Apr. 23, 1778, to Amelia Taber. They were married in St. James' Church, New London, Conn....Amelia Taber was born Feb. 11, 1758 in New London, Conn. She was the fourth child of Pardon Taber by his second wife Elizabeth Harris....In 1830 Capt. Allen returned to the smaller Nightingale farm, where his wife Amelia died, Jan. 14, 1838, aged 79 years, from dropsy in the chest....Capt. Allen died May 16, 1842....He was buried beside his wife in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London, Conn."
