Thomas Axtell was born 26 January 1619 in Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire, England to William Axtell (1587-1636) and Thomasine Cutler (1591-1633) and died 6 March 1646 Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Mary Rice (1619-1680) May 1638 .
Research Notes
Thomas Axtell is the progenitor of all early Axtell generations in America. He is believed to be related to Daniel Axtell the regicide.
Records show a Thomas Axtell born in Hertfordshire in 1619 and then jump to his arrival in Sudbury, Massachusetts in 1642.
There is no proof that Mary Rice (1619-1680) (aka Mary Rice Axtell Maynard) actually married Thomas Axtell. But this is based on a strong theory that both the Axtell and Rice families were neighbors in Hertfordshire.
