Thomas Brown was born in 1786. His father, also Thomas Brown (1756-1824) had a carrying business based in Cambridgeshire. Thomas Sr. also owned farmland in Rolleston, Staffordshire.
Move to London[]
As a young man Thomas moved to London to pursue a career off the land. He worked as a bookkeper and clerk at the wharf. In London he met Mary Elizabeth Flamell and the couple had several children in London.

Move to Cambridgeshire[]
In 1824 Thomas Brown, Sr. died and Thomas moved to Cambridgeshire to take over the business. He expanded it to carrying, farming and waggoning. In Cambridgeshire, the Brown's first settled in Cherry Hinton and then Harston.
Death[]
In 1834 his youngest son was killed by being kicked by a colt, aged eight. Thomas lived only two more years, dying in 1836 in Harston aged fifty. His probate was granted on 9 May 1838. The time lapse indicates a dispute, probably over the land and business.
