Thomas Griswold I was born 22 October 1646 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States to Michael Griswold (1618-1684) and Anne Adams (1624-1682) and died 28 October 1718 Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States of unspecified causes. He married Elizabeth Mary Howard (1649-1718) 28 November 1672 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States.
He was married November 28, 1672, and to him and his wife, Mary, were born five children, the eldest of whom was Thomas Griswold II, whose birth occurred in Wethersfield, June 11, 1674. In 1695, when twenty-one years of age, he removed to Guilford, being the first representative of the family in that city, where he spent his remaining days, his death occurring October 19, 1729.
Thomas was surveyor 1675, Constable 1690; drew land 1694. He died Oct. 28, 1718.
