He married Amy Ward (1769-1847) 25 May 1785 in Springfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.

Thomas Hancock II and many of his family were early converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and played some noteworthy parts in early church history, following Joseph Smith (1805-1844) and then Brigham Young (1801-1877) out to settle Utah.
