He married Rebecca Jennie Gray (1768-1851) 1793 in Burke County, North Carolina.

- Rebecca Hopper (1808-1896) - converted to Mormonism in 1831 and married one of the four Mormon missionaries in 1832. However during the mob persecutions at the Zion, Missouri (1831 LDS Settlement) the following year, Rebecca and Ziba left Mormonism, while the other Mormons were evicted from Jackson County, Missouri. They eventually joined the 1848 Gold Rush to California, where Ziba was famous as one of the hangin' sheriffs there.
