Thomas Reade Rootes Cobb was born 10 April 1823 in Cherry Hill Plantation, Jefferson County, Georgia, United States to John Addison Cobb (1788-1855) and Sarah Robinson Rootes (1792-1865) and died 13 December 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg of bleeding from the femoral artery. He married Marion McHenry Lumpkin (1822-1897) 8 January 1844 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, United States.
