  • AKA:Torf, Seingneur de Torville
  • AKA:Torf the Rich de Harcourt

Torf de Harcourt was born 6 January 914 in Plouigneau, Finistere, Brittany, France and died 7 January 1002 Plouigneau, Finistere, Brittany, France of unspecified causes. He married Eremburge de Bricquebec (c930-1003) 945 JL in France.

This Norman baron of unknown parentage was born in the early 10th century, he possessed numerous lordships in Normandy, including Seigneur de Torville, Torcy, Torny, Torly, and de Ponteautorf.

He was a great Norman feudal baron. Probably he was a grandson of one of the viking chiefs of Scandinavia who accompanied Rollo of Normandy (860-932) ABT 900 A.D. in the Norse invasion of northern France where they permanently settled and gave to the country its name "Normandy".

It has been suggested that he was a son of Bernard the Dane, the most powerful of the feudal nobles of Normandy during the reign of Duke William I (b. 927 - d. 943) and Regent during the minority of Duke Richard I (b. 943 - d. 955); but this claim has not been proved. [1]

Torf's children included:

  1. Thorold de Pont-Audemer (c955-1042), Sire de Ponteaudemer, married Duvelina[2]
  2. Turchetil, Seigneur de Turqueville
  3. William de Torville
