Caroline Unity born about 1830 was the eighth child of James Stickler and Sarah Angell. On 7 September 1851 at age twenty four, she married William Pitman, son of James Pitman, a labourer. Witnessing the marriage were Edmund Smart and Jane Stickler (Caroline’s sister).
Both Jane (her sister) and William (her husband) were unable to write and signed the marriage record with 'X'. Caroline Stickler worked previously as a servant.
