Famous Cousins : Sanders[]
Allred Family[]
A large group of the Allred Family was living at their newly founded Salt River settlement in 1831, was located 15 miles east of present day Paris, Missouri and only a few miles southeast of Florida, in Eastern Missouri. Here they were visited by a pair of famous Mormon missionaries - Hyrum Smith (1800-1844) and John Murdock (1760-1858) in August 4, 1831. They stayed one week and taught the gospel to the Allreds, but they were not baptized until a year later (1832) when visited by George M. Hinkle.
The settlement here would be called the Salt River Branch and was a major stop over point for Zions Camp 1834 in the summer of 1834. This family's activity probably influenced one of their cousins, Moses Martin Sanders (1803-1878), living across the state in Illinois to join the Mormon Church in 1835.
There are lots of prominent Allred's in the Mormon church.
