- Verne Russel Bright, born on a farm two miles south of Riverton, Jan 30, 1913 to Murray and Sarah Etta Bright, and died at Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Mar. 10, 1971. He graduated from Riverton High School in 1933, and was employed by Nishna Valley State Bank at Riverton for several years. Later he was employed by the Council Bluffs Savings Bank. His last years of employment were with the Methodist Hospital in Omaha in the credit claims dept. His parents, one bother, Gilbert and a nephew, Dennis Miller, preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers, Dale and Dick, Shenandoah; one sister, Mrs. Arlin (Dorothy) Miller of Riverton, and a half-brother Melvin of Fort Morgan, Colo. Funeral rites were held from Shull Funeral Home, Sat. Mar. 13, conducted by Rev. George Gibson. Music was by Mrs. Robert Anderson, soloist and Mrs. Mildred Stubbs pianist. Mrs. Bill Gray had charge of the memory book. Mrs Alvin Donaldon and Mrs. Edwin Magaw the flowers. Casket bearers were L.A. Bright, John Bright, Herschel Bright, Arnold Zuck, Glenn Fisher and Lowell White. Burial was in the Utterback rural cemetery south of Riverton.
