OVERVIEW[]

Walter's family moved from Warren Co, Iowa between May of 1870 (when son John Levick Taylor marries Lorana Cook), and 1 July 1870 when they appear in the US Census for Fillmore County, Nebraska. Walter grew up here, marrying neighbor Quitera May Patten about 1885. In 1890 he and Quitera would move to to Oregon, settling in Reedsville, a small community between Hillsboro, and Portland. Quitera bore Walter eight children, of whom six survived by the 1900 census. She died the following year in August of 1901. Lawrence, her youngest child, had been born in June 1899. It would plausible for another child to have been born around the time of her death. This may may indicate that she died in childbirth. Walter lived on until dieing in 1924. He and Quitera are buried in the Pioneer cemetery in Hillsboro.
