Geography[]

History[]

Weyba is believed to mean "place of stingrays"[2] or "place of flying squirrels".[3][4] Weyba Downs now covers the area previously known as Peregian Beach South.

A small watercourse that enters the southern shoreline of Weyba Downs is known as Murdering Creek. It is thought that it signifies a massacre of local Aboriginal tribes in the 1860s or 1870s, shortly before the pastoral run was taken up.
