Willem II van Oranje was born 27 May 1626 in The Hague, Netherlands to Frederik Hendrik van Oranje (1584-1647) and Amalia zu Solms-Braunfels (1602-1675) and died 6 November 1650 The Hague, Netherlands of smallpox. He married Mary Henrietta Stuart (1631-1660) 1 May 1641 in London, England, United Kingdom. William, Prince of Orange, Count of Nassau, Baron of Breda, Stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland, Overijssel and Groningen. William was the first leader of the now officially independent Netherlands. He died of smallpox, one week before his only child was born.
