William Beattie was born 5 June 1760 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, United States to John Beattie (1718-1790) and Ellen Gilmore (1722-1790) and died 4 April 1860 Washington County, Virginia, United States of unspecified causes. He married Mary Elizabeth Allison (1763-1830) 7 April 1780 in Washington County, Virginia, United States.
He fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain as a private.
