He married Elizabeth Jane Tibbs (1864-1959) 1883 in Bundarra, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
Aged 69, Mr. William Henry Ashenden, an old and respected resident of Armidale, passed away at his residence, Taylor-street, early on Friday morning. Born at the Rocky River diggings, deceased was one of the best known of the early prospectors. He leaves one son (William Henry, of Newcastle), and one daughter (Mrs. Harry J. Court, of Armidale), in addition to one brother (Herbert, of Sydney) and one sister (Mrs. W. Burnett, of Glen lnnes). The funetal took place to the C. of E. Cemetery on Friday afternoon, and was largely attended. The Rev. Canon Best officiated, and Piddington's had charge of the arrangements.
