William John Merrick was born 11 February 1871 in Bungaraby, New South Wales, Australia to James Robert Merrick (1842-1926) and Martha Louisa Gibbs (1846-1905) and died 12 August 1938 Dangar Cottage Hospital, Singleton, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Lilian May Medhurst (1889-1971) 28 November 1908 in Singleton, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
Mr. William Merrick, of Fordwych, Broke, died in the Dangar Cottage Hospital, Singleton, last night.
The late Mr. Merrick, who was 69 years of age, had been ailing for a long time, and his death was not unexpected. He is survived by his widow, and eight sons and five daughters.
The remains were interred in the Church of England Cemetery this afternoon. The Rev. W. J. Rltchards conducted the service
