William Lawless was born 24 October 1850 in Bungendore, New South Wales, Australia to John Francis Lawless (1814-1880) and Sophia Thompson (1828-1886) and died 14 February 1934 Lithgow District Hospital, Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia of senility, cardiac arrest. He married Mary Byron (1852-1932) 12 January 1874 in Lake George, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
Mr. William Lawless, whose death at the age of 83 years occurred in Lithgow District Hospital on the 14th instant, was buried on Thursday afternoon in Bungendore Roman Catholic Cemetery, Rev. Father O'Sullivan reading the burial service. The late Mr. Lawless was one of the district pioneers and until the death of his late wife, which took place two years ago, he had resided in Bungendore for many years. After having been cared for in the home of his son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lawless, deceased had latterly, up to the time of his death, resided with his son, John, at Lithgow. He is survived by a family of 10, five sons, Messrs. John, Joseph, William, Edward, Edwin, and five daughters, Mesdames Pratt, Nash, Byrnes, Herbert and Parker. Messrs. Mark and Patrick Lawless, of Bungendore, are brothers.
