William Leamer Shade Jr. was born 18 January 1923 in Geeseytown, Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States to William Leamer Shade Sr. (1877-1944) and Bertha Olive Lodwick (1882-1965) and died 26 July 2014 Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States of America of unspecified causes. He married Betty Lorraine Foor (1926-1998) 10 February 1945 in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania, United States.
William L. Shade, age 91, of Harborcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2014. He was born in Geeseytown, Pa., January 18, 1923, son of the late William L. Sr. and Bertha Ludwick Shade.
Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, who served during World War II and the Korean War. He had been employed by the GE Co. for 23 years, prior to his retirement. He had also previously been employed by the PA Railroad in Altoona for 23 years.
Widower of Betty L. Shade, his wife of 53 years.
Surviving are one son, William L. Shade and his wife, Deborah; and one daughter, Kay Ann Lockwood and her husband, Ronald, all of Erie; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel S. Shade; one brother, Budd Shade; and five sisters, Florence Krutz, Dorothy Geist, Eleanor Snowberger, Emily Harris, and Leona Parks.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there on Wednesday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Shawn Clerkin. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery with full military honors, conducted by American Legion Carl Neff Post 571.
