He married Sarah Ann Jane Wright (1860-1922) 1881 in West Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.

Obituary
Mr. William Thomas Baker, a respected Wallsend resident for many years, died on October 4, at the residence of his son-in- law, Mr. L. Thompson, of Brooks-street, Wallsend. He was 70 years of age, and was born in Sydney. In early childhood his parents took him to Morpeth, where he remained until about the time of his marriage to a daughter of the late Mr. John Wright, of Morpeth. He had lived in Wallsend 43 years, and was an old member of the Wallsend Miners' Lodge. Failing health compelled him to relinquish work about nine years ago. His wife died in 1922. He leaves a family of two sons and a daughter, viz., Messrs. Herbert and Thomas Baker (Muswellbrook), and Mrs L. Thompson (Wallsend). Rev. William Stewart officiated at the grave in the Methodist portion of Wallsend Cemetery. Pall-bearers were Messrs. S Smith, J. Blair, Clarence Baker (grandsons), and P. Innes (nephew). Among floral tributes were those from—Herb and Martha and family, Tom and Maggie and family, Mat and Lawrence and family, sisters Annie and Agnes and Mr. and Mrs. M. Dawson and family.
